Wouldn’t it be great to get MORE of the RIGHT things done so you can feel a real sense of progress and achievement?

 

I’m always looking for the habits, hacks and patterns that get better results and help achieve goals in shorter time frames with less effort.

3x3x3 is a powerhouse! 3x3x3 is a framework that helps me get radically clear on my quarterly strategic priorities and then focus those into monthly and weekly actions.
 
Since deploying this framework, I’m noticing seismic shifts in my ability to stay focused, identify and follow through on high-value actions, and achieve results in a fraction of the time.
 
“But Claire,” you might say, “I get plenty done. Why do I need another framework?”
 
The answer? Because life is full of distractions: Meetings. Email requests. Urgent text messages. People you care about, asking for things. Mood and energy shifts. A beautiful day calling your name. (The list goes on!) Without clear strategic priorities that are TIMELY, coupled with tangible deadlines, we all have the tendency to sink into addressing the URGENT at the expense of the truly IMPORTANT.
 
What is the 3x3x3 framework?

3x3x3 is about identifying your top 3 quarterly goals, and then translating them into 3 primary monthly goals, which further guide 3 weekly goals (every week).

This “cascade” of goals ensures that you are:

  1. Identifying strategic goals every quarter. (These are the goals that are aligned with your most important measures of success.)
  2. Breaking those into shorter-term (monthly) “sprint” goals (It’s much easier to focus in short spurts.)
  3. Ensuring real progress by tracking weekly wins! (We thrive when we DO what we SAY we will do!)

 

Here’s an example. This quarter my 3 goals are all aligned to overarching strategies for the year. They include:

  1. Launching Spring COACHING FOR EXCELLENCE class for a full cohort
  2. Launching leadership development programs for 3 clients
  3. Creating 3 new value-added leadership resources to add to my free resources page (just for you!)

These cascaded into 3 monthly goals that were more tactical in nature and would ensure the success of my quarterly goals:

  1. Secure participant enrollment in COACHING FOR EXCELLENCE.
  2. Gather information and design leadership development programs for 3 clients.
  3. Add one helpful resource to my free resource page!

Then, to ensure focus, I drill down even further into 3 weekly tasks that are essential to meeting those monthly goals. (Goals are only achieved through ACTION.) The key is to make sure the 3 weekly tasks are powerful and achievable, and that I celebrate as I accomplish them!

Success! I have achieved the 3 goals I set for myself this month, so I am on track to reach my quarterly goals. That feels great!
 
I can tell you with certainty that this would NOT be the case without the clarity of my 3x3x3 practice. Sure, I’d make progress and get things done. But it feels SO much better, easier, faster and smoother to FOCUS and ACHIEVE. Providing clarity and helping our teams get the right things done is a big part of our leadership imperative, and yet setting and achieving the right kind of goals is HARD.
