Time to Reflect

2020 was quite a ride! Above top left: My family in Hawaii, January 2020. Top right: One of my last LIVE team-building sessions. Bottom left: Makeshift zoom set up when I thought this might be temporary. Bottom right: Zooming is a new way of life!

I love New Year’s Energy!

It captures my attention around mid-December, and I begin my process of “taking stock” of the year. I ask…

  • What was I able to accomplish?
  • What disappointments did I experience?
  • What can I learn from my trials and tribulations?
  • What's most important now?
  • What might the coming year hold?
  • What future would I like to shape?

And there was a lot to learn from 2020!

It started out strong with so much potential!

A trip to Hawaii in January with my wonderful family gave way to several meaningful projects lined up for the year!

But alas… we all know what happened next.

Forward energy was replaced by reactive energy, and then by a “one-day-at-a-time” kind of energy that has been the hallmark of the year.

But “one-day-at-a-time” thinking doesn’t inspire me long term.

  • I need Vision.
  • I need a clear Purpose.
  • I need something to work toward and measure my progress against.
  • I need to actively shape my future, lest I end up feeling like I’m being bounced through life like a ping pong ball.

New Year’s to the rescue!

The change from one year to the next offers hope.

It’s fresh. It’s new. It’s exciting. Full of possibility!

So this week I reflect, and I plan.

How about you?

  • What does your New Year’s routine look like?
  • How will you close the chapter known as 2020?
  • What story will you write for yourself in 2021?
